About Utility Stack

Utility Stack is a growing library of free, focused tools for everyday decisions. The goal is simple: open a page, solve the small task, and move on.

Creator profile

Who runs Utility Stack

Hi, I'm Sean McDowell, the creator behind Utility Stack. My goal is simple: to build fast, reliable calculators and tools that make everyday tasks a little easier.

After serving 24 years in the United States Air Force, including two tours in Iraq, I wanted to apply the discipline and systematic problem-solving skills I learned in the military to practical tools on the web. Utility Stack is built to cut through digital clutter: no unnecessary lag, no confusing layouts, just straightforward tools that respect your time.

My background also includes a Bachelor's in Business Administration, a Master's in Cybersecurity Operations, and the CISSP certification. That mix of business, security, and systems experience shapes how I build Utility Stack: practical calculations, clear assumptions, privacy-conscious design, and tools that do not require users to create an account or hand over unnecessary personal information.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find exactly what you're looking for, and if you have an idea for a useful tool, feel free to reach out through the Contact page or connect with me on LinkedIn.

Tool library

What we build

The site includes calculators, converters, text utilities, random pickers, generators, shopping helpers, and planning tools. Most tools run directly in your browser and are designed to be fast on both desktop and mobile.

Transparency

How Utility Stack earns trust

How tools are maintained

Each tool is kept narrow, practical, and easy to verify. When a tool depends on changing outside data, the page explains its limits or uses a source that can be updated without collecting personal information.

How calculations are checked

Calculator logic is tested with representative examples before publishing. Finance, tax, health, and planning tools label results as estimates and show important assumptions near the tool or guide content.

Why trust the tools

The site is built around transparency rather than authority claims. Inputs are visible, outputs update directly, and pages describe what is included and what is not included.

Editorial approach

Utility Stack avoids fake reviews, guaranteed income claims, and misleading promises. When a page compares choices, guide content explains the assumptions instead of presenting a one-size-fits-all answer.

What makes the content useful

Utility Stack pages are written to answer the practical question behind the tool: what number should I compare, what hidden cost might I forget, and what should I verify before acting? The site is intentionally focused on everyday decisions where a small calculation or conversion can save time, reduce confusion, or make the next step clearer.

Advertising

The site may use advertising to support free access. Ads should not block the main tool experience, and ad placements are separated from calculator inputs and results.

Feedback and corrections

Corrections, broken links, and tool suggestions can be sent through the Contact page. Helpful feedback makes the tools more useful for everyone.
